Community Involvement

We're Making a Difference

In our Las Vegas office, our mission is to inspire people to realize their financial security dreams, backed by the strength of Northwestern Mutual, a world-class financial institution of over 160 years. Consistent with our mission, we value philanthropy as a way to make a significant impact in our local community. Parallel to the professional work we do in financial services, we wholeheartedly believe that our community service work will also inspire children and families to realize their dreams. To that end, we have chosen childhood cancer as a cause into which we are putting our collective energy, aligning directly with the goals of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation and our partnerships with Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

We're Leading by Example

In addition to Northwestern Mutual - Las Vegas' commitment to fighting childhood cancer, our team members donate their time and talent – as well as their financial support – to charities and causes that matter to them and our community. They are rebuilding neighborhoods, helping students succeed, broadening perspective and opportunities for the disadvantaged, and improving the quality of life for people with life-altering illnesses.

We're Recognized for Our Dedication

Northwestern Mutual's Nevada and Southern California offices have been awarded the Childhood Cancer Impact Award by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. As part of its efforts to fund childhood cancer research and support families battling the disease, Northwestern Mutual partners with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to raise funds and awareness. Due to the exceptional service efforts by the local office, Starlight Children's Foundation will receive a $50,000 grant on their behalf.

Philanthropic Highlights

We want to have an immediate impact on families in Las Vegas facing childhood cancer and other debilitating illnesses. Some of our philanthropic highlights include the following:

Northwestern Mutual Las Vegas Joins Forces with for Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation to Host "A Day at the Park"

Our Las Vegas office joined forces with Candlighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada to host “A Day at the Park” at Sunset Park. This event treated 15 children affected by pediatric cancer, and their families, to a day of fun. Families feasted on BBQ and enjoyed games, a bouncy castle, face painting, and a balloon artist. Over 20 generous sponsors from Northwestern Mutual “adopted” the participating children. Each adopted child was provided with $100 worth of school essentials, including backpacks, school supplies, and clothing. As an added bonus, children and their families were given season passes to the Cowabunga Bay water park. Members of our staff also showed their support by getting haircuts at the park and donating the hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

With the support of Born and Raised (BAR), our Las Vegas office also hosted a fundraiser for this event. BAR generously donated all tips from the fundraiser to support Candlelighters’ ongoing fight against pediatric cancer.
